Organization That Help Undocumented Aliens - 1022 Words
Organization that Help Undocumented Aliens As the number undocumented immigrants continues to rise in the United States much of what is communicated in the media has consistently taken on a negative tone. A negative tone giving many in the public the impression that undocumented aliens are without an advocate in the pursuit of streamlining the path to become legal and enjoy the rights and privileges that go along with being a member of American society and all that that entails. There exists however organizations that have taken up the cause for these immigrants providing legal support, health care and a voice for the larger audience to hear. Two of these organizations are the Federation for American Immigration Reform or FAIR and the Immigrant Youth Justice League or IYJL. FAIR is a nonprofit, membership organization with the belief that immigration reform, not only serves undocumented immigrants, but society as a whole. With nearly 250,000 members nationwide, both liberal and conservative, FAIR is truly a grassroots movement. Deconstructing Scenes From Psycho Film Essay Example For Students
Deconstructing Scenes From Psycho Film Essay For this essay I have been asked to de-construct two scenes from the influential horror movie, Psycho. ââ¬Ë Psycho is a horror/psychological thriller movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock in 1960, Alfred Hitchcock is regarded as one of the greatest managers of all time. Many people have portrayed Psycho as the greatest horror movie of all time made, and the female parent of the award genre. Although following typical modem codifications and conventions Psycho would nââ¬â¢t be classed as a award as it does nââ¬â¢t suit them all. ââ¬ËAlfred Hitchcock ââ¬Ës powerful, complex psychological thriller, Psycho ( 1960 ) is the ââ¬Å" female parent â⬠of all modem honor suspense movies ââ¬â it single-handedly ushered in an epoch of inferior screen ââ¬Ëslashers ââ¬Ë with blood-letting and in writing, flooring violent deaths ââ¬â hypertext transfer protocol: //wwwfilmsue.org/ysyc.html The movie is about a adult female, Marion Crane who steals 40,000 Dollars from a adult male seeking to bank the money, and attempts to run off with the money. She finds herself at a motel owned by Norman Bates. Although Norman Bates claims there are no adult females around the topographic point, a adult female appears to kill Marion. Norman Bates is so questioned after a series of slayings and is found guiltless on claims of insanity. The first scene I will de-construct will be when Detective Arbogast is in Norman Bates ââ¬Ës house, and the 2nd one will be where Norman Bates is sitting in a room on his ain thought after being questioned by the constabulary toward the terminal of the movie. Scene 1: The scene I will now be dc-constructing is the scene where Arbogast has merely entered the house of Norman Bates. He easy approaches the steps and starts to walk up them step by measure seeking to be quiet. At this clip Arbogast is unmindful to the fact that Norman Bates is in the room at the top of the steps. As he reaches the top of the steps there ââ¬Ës a speedy shooting of the door at the top of the stepss gap, at this point the audience is prosecuting with what ââ¬Ës on the screen and knows that something is about to go on to Arbogast. As Arbogast reaches the top of the stepss theresa piercing piece of music as Norman Bates swings the door unfastened and he ââ¬Ës dressed as a adult female, runs over and knife Arbogast so pushes him down the steps. Although the Audience has an thought that its traveling to go on it ââ¬Ës still plenty to scare and floor people. Norman Bates so returns to run after him to the underside of the Stairs and repetitively stab him. When applied to the film, mise-en-scene refers to eveiything that appears before the camera and its agreement mise-en-scene applies to this shooting and plays a monolithic importance. The door at the top of the steps is the most of import portion, it allows for a fleet shocking motion when Norman Bates runs Across to face Arbogast. The first shooting of the scene is where Arbogast has merely walked into the house and he looks up the stepss. The room is dark and gives a sense of ghostliness, this portion is shot from the forepart so we can see his face and his reaction to the milieus. The following shooting is from behind, we can so see he ââ¬Ës traveling up the stepss easy and taking the clip to non do much noise. This gives a feel of tenseness knowing he has to be quiet or he ââ¬Ëll be given away. In my sentiment the first two or three shootings in any scene are the most of import, this gives clip for the manager and histrions to put the ambiance and give an thought of the extroverted minutes. It ââ¬Ës done good in this scene within the first two shootings we ââ¬Ëve already picked up on the illuming being really dark, Arbogast being really wary of what ââ¬Ës go oning at the precise minute, and him seeking to be quiet whilst mounting the steps. This has to put the temper good seeing as there is no duologue to state us what ââ¬Ës go oning, whilst at the same clip constructing up tenseness. The following shooting in this scene is a few seconds ofArbogast mounting the steps, there is a quiet eerie piece of music playing, toward the terminal of that shooting he looks around and behind him, this proves that he ââ¬Ës nervous and does nââ¬â¢t desire anything bad to go on. He ââ¬Ës still mounting the stairs really easy and has an arm on the bannister to maintain his balance. As he looks behind being wary and cautious it cuts to a shooting of a door easy opening reasonably broad. There is no mark of a individual, nevertheless this still makes us experience like Arbogast is being watched by Norman Bates even though he ââ¬Ës behind the door which is wholly closed at one point. The audience now knows that Arbogast should non transport on mounting up the stepss but can make nil about it. This allows for suspense to construct and makes the audience conjecture what will go on and when it will go on. The Big Bang Theory EssayThey ââ¬Ëll set him off now, as I should hold old ages ago. ââ¬Ë Normans Dendranthema grandifloruom has admitted to desiring to kill him. This line is confounding because it makes people think why she is against him now when she ââ¬Ës used him to perpetrate slaying. Even though for a just sum of clip it ââ¬Ës been revealed that Norman Bates is his ain Dendranthema grandifloruom her voice had non been heard before this minute and we get to cognize her true ideas. ââ¬ËHe was ever bad, and in the terminal he intended to state them I killed those misss and that adult male, as if I could make anything but sit and stare, like one of his stuffed birds ââ¬Ë Although she is hside his caput Normans silent is dead, nevertheless she still has control over him, and whilst it ââ¬Ës go oning he knows nil about it. After every slaying he discovered he was shocked and did nââ¬â¢t cognize what to make. This scene is the first clip he ââ¬Ës been abl e to hear her ideas and non hold to physically make as she wants him to. ââ¬ËWell they know I ca nââ¬â¢t even travel a finger, and I wo nââ¬â¢t. I ââ¬Ëll merely sit here and be quiet merely in instance they do, surmise me. ââ¬Ë This is where his Dendranthema grandifloruom starts to take over his head and control him, he ââ¬Ës going less and less nervous because she ââ¬Ës physically in his head, these are his ideas and he has control over it. The lone difference is its in his mums voice and he ââ¬Ës tricked into believing like his Dendranthema grandifloruom would because he thinks he is his Dendranthema grandifloruom. They ââ¬Ëre likely watching me. This line makes it clear that she ââ¬Ës taken him over, he looks around the room surmising person might be looking onto him. The shooting is now on a close up of his face so we can see his look. He so looks down onto his manus and there ââ¬Ës a fly on it his Dendranthema grandifloruoms voice says ââ¬ËI ââ¬Ëm non even traveling to swat that fly: I hope they are watching. ââ¬Ë That links the fly to the slayings and being able to raise a finger, his Dendranthema grandifloruom wants them to see that she ââ¬Ës harmless and wants to convert anyone that she did nââ¬â¢t play a portion in the slayings. The concluding line is ââ¬ËThey ââ¬Ëll see, they ââ¬Ëll see and they ââ¬Ëll cognize: and they ââ¬Ëll state, why she would nââ¬â¢t even harm a fly. ââ¬Ë Norman Bates looks up and easy smilings as if to signal that he believes they ââ¬Ëre traveling to acquire away with it, at this point he seems happy that everything ââ¬Ës traveling to travel to be after. There ââ¬Ës a batch given away in that line. Although they know Norman Bates committed the slayings his Dendranthema grandifloruom is still content that if he does nââ¬â¢t swat that fly they ââ¬Ëre off the hook, and he does acquire off with it. Decision I personally believe that these two scenes were good to dc-construct because of the two different provinces Norman Bates was seen in. The first was homicidal, and the second was unagitated. So efficaciously by taking these scenes apart I ââ¬Ëve managed to discourse Norman in two different frames of head. Even though in the first scene he ââ¬Ës non seen much it ââ¬Ës stiii a general thought of him non being himself. He did nââ¬â¢t talk a individual word in any of the scenes either. I think that Alfred Hitchcock manages to acquire precisely the reaction he wants from the audience throughout the whole movie. They ââ¬Ëre invariably prosecuting with what ââ¬Ës traveling on on the screen and are kept thinking. Hence why Psycho is kno as the greatest horror movie of all time.

Mary and Bill adopted a three-year-old toddler named Sam two weeks ago. Sam is good-natured and very inquisitive. Typically, before the finalization of an adoption, children are required to undergo a routine examination by a physician. However, the required examination is not meant to be a complete health screening, and many conditions are not even checked. Therefore, Mary and Bill are bringing Sam to Trinity Medical Center for a standard physical examination by a pediatrician to assess his health status. Patient History Very little information was known about Samââ¬â¢s parents. However, it was known that they died in an automobile accident when Samââ¬â¢s father suffered a massive heart attack. In the past two weeks Sam has done very well adjusting to his new environment. Moreover, he has had all the proper immunizations for his age. Samââ¬â¢s adoptive parents, Mary and Bill, have noticed some greasy/oily stools in his diaper. In addition, they are concerned about his wheezing (when breathing). Physical Examination Vital Signs Age: 3 yrs. , 1 month Weight: 28 lbs. (lower 10%-tile) Height: 3 ft. 1 inch Pulse: 115 beats/minute Respirations: 30 breaths/minute Blood Pressure: 95/60 (systolic/diastolic) mmHg General Appearance Happy, energetic child Head and Neck Runny nose but his ears are clear of fluid Lungs Cracking sounds are present Coughing and wheezing are noticeable Cardiovascular Normal Abdominal No swelling is present Genitourinary Not assessed Extremities Full mobility is present Pulse found in arms and legs Neurological Normal reflexes Physician Comments Have a complete blood count and chest x-ray done. Also, schedule a follow-up appointment for tomorrow to review the lab results and chest x-ray. Objectives for PBL group 1. Assign people positions/roles for the case study such as group leader, typist, secretary, and editor. 2. Brainstorm on what you (a) know about the case, and (b) do not know, but would like to know about the case. 3. Formulate your initial ideas (or hypotheses) about what is wrong with Sam. 4. Identify and define terms and concepts you do not understand. 5. Write an approximately one-page group report that includes (a) the roles each person is assigned to, (b) your initial hypothesis and the evidence that led to its formulation, and (c) the terms and concepts that were initially identified as being unknown to you. Make sure you properly cite the source when explaining a concept. 6. You will be given Part II upon completion of Part I. Go to Part IIââ¬âââ¬Å"The Follow-up Visitâ⬠A Typical Cold? by Brent J. F. Hill Part IIââ¬âThe Follow-up Visit Scenario Today is Samââ¬â¢s follow-up medical appointment. The weather is very hot and humid, which makes it almost unbearable to be outside. Samââ¬â¢s parents parked their car in the parking lot of Trinity Medical Center and went into the air-conditioned comfort of the pediatric clinic. They were immediately seen by the pediatrician, and Mary expressed her concern over the color of Samââ¬â¢s sputum. Mary was upset that she had forgotten to tell the pediatrician the other day about this fact. The sputum Sam had been coughing up was green and viscid. While talking with Mary and Bill about Samââ¬â¢s sputum, the pediatrician looked over at Sam and noticed a white ââ¬Å"frostingâ⬠on his face (the ââ¬Å"frostingâ⬠is an indication of salty build-up on the drying edge of sweat). The pediatrician asked Mary and Bill if they had noticed this salty build-up before. ââ¬Å"That must be why his skin tastes a bit salty when I kiss him on his check,â⬠Mary replied. The pediatrician then went over the blood count and chest x-ray results (described below) with Mary and Bill. After describing the chest x-ray results to them, the pediatrician had a hypothesis about Samââ¬â¢s chest x-ray results. To test her hypothesis the pediatrician ordered a sweat chloride test (the result is listed below). Blood Lab Results White blood cell count: values within normal limits. White blood cell differential: lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils are within normal limits. There is a slight elevation in neutrophils. Red blood cell count: values within normal limits Hematocrit: values within normal limits Platelet count: values within normal limits Chest x-ray Results Some hyperinflation and bronchial wall thickening is apparent. Sweat Chloride Test Results Indeterminate Objectives for Your PBL Group Session 1. Identify the most important concepts (ââ¬Å"learning issuesâ⬠) from both Part I and Part II that you need to investigate to diagnosis the causes for Samââ¬â¢s symptoms. 2. Divide up the ââ¬Å"learning issuesâ⬠for each group member to investigate. The group leader will need to turn in a list of your ââ¬Å"learning issuesâ⬠which identifies by name the group member assigned to each one. Part II Individual Report 1. Define terms and concepts you donââ¬â¢t understand while investigating your ââ¬Å"learning issue. â⬠2. Thoroughly explain your ââ¬Å"learning issue. â⬠3. Do you have a different hypothesis about the case after investigating your ââ¬Å"learning issueâ⬠? Provide the reasons or evidence for the change in your thinking or for why you still consider your initial hypothesis to be the most valid one. Cite all the sources you used. Make sure that you include in-text citations as well as a bibliography at the end of your report. Go to Part IIIââ¬âââ¬Å"Your Explanation of Samââ¬â¢s Conditionâ⬠A Typical Cold? by Brent J. F. Hill Part IIIââ¬âYour Explanation of Samââ¬â¢s Condition Upon completing Part II, each member of your group is now the ââ¬Å"expertâ⬠for a particular learning issue that is involved with Samââ¬â¢s condition. Hopefully, this research has either reaffirmed your hypothesis about Samââ¬â¢s condition or enabled you to formulate a new hypothesis. If you are unsure whether you are ââ¬Å"on the right track,â⬠please check with the instructor. Your next task is to prepare a group report that addresses the points detailed below. Objectives and Issues to Address in Preparing Your Final Group Report 1. What type of disease is Sam suffering from? Cystic fibrosis 2. What tissues and organs does this disease affect? Once you identify all the tissues and organs, briefly explain their respective dysfunction. It affects the lungs, liver, gallbladder, intestines, sweat glands, reproductive organs, and the pancreas. In the lungs bacteria grow in the mucous area causing infection and blockage of passageway. In the liver it can cause clogging and prevent it from working properly eventually causing liver failure. It affects the sweat glands by the amount of body salt lost in perspiration is highly elevated, causing salt retention problems during exercise and hot weather The intestines are sometimes the first affected organs that develop thick secretions that form in the intestines causing a life-threatening blockage of the intestines known as a meconium ileus. Cystic fibrosis affects the reproductive system differently in men and women. The disease can cause men to be infertile because of the thick secretions in sperm not allowing it to pass through the body. Women may have decreased fertility because of thick cervical mucus blockage It causes the pancreatic duct to clog not allowing proper digestion for food in the body. 3. Does this disease affect exocrine or endocrine glands; please explain your answer. In addition, what role do goblet cells play in this disease state? It affects the exocrine glands, causing them to secrete an excess of mucus and other secretions. Exocrine glands secrete substances onto body surfaces both internally and externally. . Goblet cell hyperplasia (the hypersecretion of mucus) and metaplasia (the replacement of a specialized cell with a another specialized cell) that play an important factor. 4. Explain the reasoning behind the appearance of his sputum. There is a lot of thick, viscous mucus around the lungs and respiratory system causing it hard to breath it can affect the liver function as well as the gallbladder function. Bile which is a dark green/brown color is produced by the liver but stored in the gallbladder. When CF affects the functioning of the liver it also loses its bile which can be mixed in with the thick mucus which causes the mucus to turn a different color. Also, if mucus is sitting in the respiratory tract for a long time it can turn colors and can also turn green if there is an infection involved and in the results it did say that Sam had excessive numbers of neutrophils which mean he has an infection in the immune system. 5. Typically, a pulmonary function test will not be given until about age 7. However, if Sam was given a pulmonary function test it will demonstrate a decreased FEV1 (forced expiratory volume in 1 second) and FVC (forced vital capacity). Based on these hypothetical pulmonary function test results, answer the following questions: 1. What can you infer about the surface area and/or diffusion distance for gas exchange in Samââ¬â¢s lungs? The surface area and diffusion distances for gas exchange in Samââ¬â¢s lungs are significantly decreased due to the thick mucus that lines his lung walls and his decreased lung strength as a result of consistent coughing in developing lungs. How does the presence of sputum relate to Samââ¬â¢s pulmonary function tests? The presence of sputum relates to Samââ¬â¢s pulmonary function test in that the sputum lining his lung walls decreased surface area and expansion ability. Without the presence of this sputum and his lungs time to heal, Sam could perform much better in the test with treatment. 3. Do these tests correlate with Samââ¬â¢s chest x-ray results? Make sure you explain your answer. The pulmonary tests do relate to the chest x-ray, bronchial wall thickening and hyperinflation could indeed cause the pulmonary test to be so poor as those causes significantly damage breathing strength and efficiency. 6. Explain how this disease affects the function of the pulmonary system on a cellular level. You might want to diagram a cell to help with the explanation. Make sure you specifically address osmosis (water movement) and ion transport of the cell. In a non-cystic fibrosis individual chloride channels are found in the cells lining the epithelium of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. These are the same cells that are coated by mucus. The chloride channels function to let chloride out of the epithelial cells. So in the cells from non cystic fibrosis individual the chloride channels open periodically to allow the cell to maintain a normal balance of chloride ion between the inside and outside of the cell. In a cystic fibrosis individual the chloride channels do not function and chloride ions build up inside the cell. 7. Explain why the sweat chloride test (Part II) is used as a diagnostic tool for Samââ¬â¢s disease. In addition, suggest why the pediatrician should order a ââ¬Å"nasal potential difference measurementâ⬠to be taken. The sweat chloride test was used as a diagnostic tool because when people with CF take sweat tests, the result is positive, and it is always positive. Although only an intermediate chloride level does not immediately diagnose one with CF, it one of very many important tests used to diagnose. A NPD measurement could also be taken to show an electrophysiologic abnormality in junction only to CF, correlating to and further helping to diagnose it. Explain and give the reasoning behind two treatment options. To help unclog his chest and nasal cavities, an aerosolized mucolytic could be used to help thin the mucus and help him cough and breathe easier and less painfully. For his greasy/oily stools, a pancreatic enzyme medication could be given to help aid in digestion and intestinal obstruction. If neither of these are effective or more simply needs to be done, there are many other options such as antibiotics and anti inflammatory drugs. Part III Final Group Report.
